Concert: PIANO SOLO - Andrea Manzoni
28 May 2026
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, at OPOS, pianist and composer Andrea Manzoni will present Solo Piano live, his new album to be released on vinyl on May 29 by Another Music Records.
PIANO SOLO is not simply a concert, but an immersive experience of radical improvisation and deep listening.
“Solo piano is a journey without maps.
The path is a continuous flow in which the unexpected becomes revelation, and music exists only in the ‘here and now.’ Improvisation is the breath of this journey: an act of deep listening and a willingness to embrace whatever is born and dissolves in the present moment.
Over these twenty years of concerts around the world, I have learned that there is no such thing as ‘difficult’ or ‘simple’ music: there is only the truth with which it is experienced. Attending an improvisation concert means witnessing a creative process that moves along two invisible axes: verticality, which sinks into the depth of feeling, and horizontality, which follows the unfolding of time. In between, between heartbeat and pause, a mysterious space opens up: the place where sound meets silence, where Time, in its infinite forms, manifests itself as pure presence. Chronos — measurable, flowing time — together with Kairos, qualitative time, the moment that opens like a threshold and contains the right occasion within itself, create the space in which these two dimensions meet: mathematical rhythm merges with the unrepeatable instant, and the pianist finds himself suspended between order and intuition, between control and surrender.
Every moment becomes an entire universe, and within that fragment lies the totality of experience: past and future dissolve into the now, into the interval between one sound and the next, between breath and silence. The piano becomes the temple in which this ritual takes place, and the keyboard a landscape of colors and refractions. The hands become antennas moving between the visible and the invisible, and improvisation turns into a form of secular prayer, an active contemplation in which sound takes shape.
Every concert is an act of birth, a creation shared between performer and listener, and the true center of this journey always remains the human being.
Art is born from a profound dialogue between the Self and what we might call the Divine — an inner presence, that spark of consciousness each person carries within. Creativity is the bridge between these two dimensions: humanity and its god, the finite and the infinite, body and spirit.
Every artistic act is a gesture of reconnection, a possibility of ‘remembering oneself,’ of returning to the origin. When sound rises into the air, what truly vibrates is the possibility of being fully present within the mystery of this unique, unrepeatable moment.”
