Workshop and concert: Sine Sole Sileo meets Conserere

29 March 2025

On 29 March, the Milanese collective Conserere, dedicated for years to the promotion of improvised and research music, co-organised with OPOS a concert featuring the international duo Sine Sole Sileo, composed of musicians Irene Sorozábal Moreno and Katerina Orfanoudaki.

The evening was divided into two parts. The first part, entitled Where Flowers Should Be, saw the duo, together with Natálie Kulina (violin), play a song cycle composed by clarinetist and composer Michele Mazzini. The texts included works by William Blake, Tess Gallagher, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Luise Glück and others. In the second part, the performance Sweetbitter Fruit by the duo Sine Sole Sileo was presented, in which the participants of the workshop that took place during the day, selected through a convocation called by the collective, took part. The project was realised with the support of Culture Moves Europe. This performance explores the concept of pleasure, from the simplicity of biting an apple to the complexity of an orgasm, reflecting on the nuances of female desire and the historical representation of women’s bodies. This musical journey combines early baroque pieces (Charles G, Juan Hidalgo, Monteverdi, Purcell) with original compositions by the duo.

The duo Sine Sole Sileo, composed of Irene Sorozábal Moreno (voice) and Katerina Orfanoudaki (harpsichord) and based in Amsterdam, was born out of a shared interest in Baroque performance practice, contemporary music and improvisation.
