Concert: HRUDJA - presentation of Massimo Silverio's album with video installations by Alessandra Condello
3 June 2025
On 3 June 2025, OPOS hosts Massimo Silverio for a special live presentation of Hrudja, his first album released in November 2023 by Okum Produzioni. After two self-produced EPs, the artist from Friuli marked his definitive debut with this record, acclaimed by Italian and international critics. It is the result of a meeting with producer Manuel Volpe (Rhabdomantic Orchestra) and a collaboration with musician and performer Nicholas Remondino (Lamie, Stefano Battaglia, Vieri Cervelli Montel).
Hrudja is a work that brings together the archaic and the contemporary, combining traditional instruments from the Carnic Alps with cellos, guitars, electronics and a unique sound vision. The title is the Lombard ancestor of the word Grusa and indicates in Friulian the scab that forms on a healing wound: a powerful metaphor for rebirth, memory and transformation.
Hrudja has been hailed as one of the best Italian records of 2023 by publications such as Rumore, OndaRock, Rolling Stone, Rockit and Impatto Sonoro. Hrudja has also garnered acclaim abroad: Iggy Pop included it in his Iggy Recommend column, while magazines such as Mojo (4/5 stars) and Clash Magazine (8/10), as well as radio stations such as KEXP (USA), FIP (France), BBC and Radio Capital, have celebrated its originality and evocative power.
Recorded between April and November 2022 at Rubedo Recordings in Turin, the album was produced by Manuel Volpe with arrangements shared between Silverio, Volpe, Remondino and Leo Virgili. The lyrics and music are penned by Massimo Silverio himself, who sings in a mysterious, ancestral language. His songs are an invitation to an intense and introspective sound experience, between tension and delicacy, silences that ring and fullnesses that move. Hrudja is a record of contrasts, a sound creature out of time and genre, poised between dream and nightmare.
Art installation:
During the evening there will be an exhibition of videos produced by Alessandra Condello, an architect and transmedia artist from Abruzzo. Her artistic practice develops at the intersection of art, architecture and technology, with a deep interest in the interaction between human beings and the environment – be it natural, social or digital. He explores themes related to posthuman evolution, the transformation of cultural identity in the digital age, and the dialogue between natural and built forms, often interweaving folklore and technological innovation. It uses interactive and digital concepts and elements to redefine the narrative of cultural heritage, making it alive, immersive and relevant.
TITLE: Numina
The project consists of a series of four videos generated with artificial intelligence that reinterpret the folklore of Italy’s inland mountain areas. In a time suspended between past and future, these works propose a renewed aesthetic of myth, ritual and memory, filtered through a post-human and digital vision. Each video evokes, in symbolic and dreamlike form, elements of tradition – masks, seasonal rituals, clothes, landscapes – without ever representing them in a direct or didactic way. The AI acts as interpreter and cultural translator, deforming, abstracting and rewriting the visual and narrative code of mountain folklore. The original materials are metabolised into visionary, hybrid images that give new meaning to the concept of belonging, identity and territory.
This visual reinvention develops like an emotional and morphological atlas of collective memory, in which the invisible and the forgotten resurface in new guises. Far from any documentary intent, the videos are presented as imaginary spaces in which the ancient and the future coexist, resonating in unpredictable and poetic forms.
