Concert: AROUND PIAZZOLLA – SaxMeet Ensemble featuring talks and insights by Alain Pagani

27 June 2025

On June 27, 2025, the spaces of OPOS hosted an unforgettable evening dedicated to the timeless art of Astor Piazzolla, a pivotal figure of tango nuevo and 20th-century music.
The event featured the SaxMeet Ensemble, a leading formation in the Italian chamber music scene, presenting their latest recording project entirely devoted to the great Argentine composer.

The program included a selection of Piazzolla’s most celebrated and evocative works, such as the intense Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas, the intimate and poignant Oblivion, and the energetic, iconic Libertango, alongside other pieces imbued with the passion and melancholy that define the essence of Argentine tango. This repertoire transported the audience into distant soundscapes filled with emotion and color, capturing the unmistakable charm of Piazzolla’s musical language.

Adding further significance to the evening was the special participation of Alain Pagani, Piazzolla’s worldwide publisher and a key figure in the international dissemination of his work. During the event, Pagani shared personal reflections and memories, recounting the profound human and professional bond that united his father, Aldo Pagani—Piazzolla’s historic producer and close friend—with the composer himself. A partnership that played a decisive role in bringing Piazzolla’s extraordinary talent to global recognition.
